Some customers pay a service charge with their rent. This pays for the day-to-day running and management of the main building your home is in.
Service charges vary depending on the level of additional services required. Typically, they include caretaking, cleaning, security, heating and lighting in communal areas, as well as grounds maintenance and other services.
The total of the annual running costs per scheme for services provided is shared equally between the residents receiving the services – Villages Housing does not make a profit through these charges.
The cost of the service charge is fully recoverable for residents receiving Housing Benefit. Leaseholders are charged annually for insurance and would be consulted to make a contribution towards the cost of any cyclical or major repair works required to their property.
