Bogus Callers

We want to make sure your home and community are as safe and secure as possible. Being vigilant for Bogus Callers is just one of the ways you can keep your home secure.

What is a Bogus Caller?

A Bogus Caller is someone who visits and tries to gain access to your home under a false identity; this can include officials from gas, electric and water companies.

How do I know if my repair visit is genuine?

Operatives sent by us will usually have a pre-booked appointment to visit your home; they will always carry an identity card for you to check which should contain his or her photo. You can always look out for logos on their uniform or vehicle.

How do I prevent Bogus Callers?

Always look to see who is at the door before you open it through glass or a spy-hole door viewer and then be sure to check ID cards before allowing anyone in. If you’re still not sure that the caller is genuine then get in touch with us to double check your appointment, if they are genuine, they won’t mind waiting!

Who do I contact if I think I have a Bogus Caller?

If you are worried, simply message us on webchat for a 10 second response or call us on 0300 123 5522 where we can double check your appointment or point you in the right direction. If you’ve confirmed this person is a bogus caller then you can report them to 101 or 999 in the case of an emergency.
