We provide additional services for some of our tenants, and this payment is collected weekly with the rent charge.
The different schemes are charged at various amounts, depending on the level of services they receive.
The services we provide include caretaking, cleaning, communal lighting, security equipment, lift and door entry repairs etc. and warden costs for our sheltered schemes.
The total of the annual running costs per scheme for services provided, are then shared equally between the residents receiving the services.
The cost of the service charge is fully recoverable for residents receiving housing benefit.
Leaseholders are charged annually for insurance, and would be consulted to make a contribution towards the cost of any cyclical or major repair works required to their property.
Residents at the Cliffs and Craigs mulit-storey blocks and Portland House also receive a weekly charge for heating to their flat. This cost however is classed as a non eligible charge and cannot be recovered from housing benefit.
