Scheme Managers Prove Invaluable During Cold Spell

Monday 11th January 2010

Villages Housing Association has been taking care of its older tenants during the recent cold spell. Mark Castellain and Marie Morgan, the Scheme Managers at Roughsedge and Brandearth House Sheltered Housing schemes, have been helping tenants who have been unable to get out due to the recent severe weather conditions.

They have been shopping for essential items for tenants, even walking their dogs to prevent them making unnecessary journeys and falling in the frozen conditions, and generally making sure everyone is warm and secure.

Ivy Spencer, from Roughsedge House, said,

"I really want to thank Mark, if he had not helped me with my shopping, I would have had to go myself. I fractured my pelvis a few years ago, so I'm scared I'll fall on the snow and ice."

Ivy Spencer and Mark CastellainJed Pearson, Deputy Chief Executive, said,

"Villages Housing Association strives to be 'More Than Just a Landlord' and this is an example of how our Scheme Managers provide a valuable and positive contribution to the health, safety and well being of our older, more vulnerable tenants. For some of our tenants the Scheme Managers are the only people they may see for a few days, so it's important that we make sure they are not too isolated or lonely during this period."
