About Villages

Here at Villages Housing Association we own and manage nearly 3000 properties in Knowsley, Oldham and St. Helens. Our portfolio includes general needs, sheltered and supported housing. Villages Housing's mission statement is.... "To be more than just a landlord by working in partnership to create an environment for communities to flourish".

This means that we are involved in issues and projects far wider than just bricks and mortar. We work with partners in education and training, crime and ASB, health, transport, social activities and shopping provision. As a not-for-profit organisation we are able to re-invest all of our income back into our communities to assist in meeting this objective.

Our ethos is to be locally based. Our activities support both community priorities and local authority objectives through their local area agreements. By working in partnership we aim to create environments that enable our communities to flourish.

Villages Housing Association was the key partner in the first Large Scale Stock Transfer (LSVT) in England in 1983, when Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council transferred 3300 of its properties in Cantril Farm.

In 2004, Villages was chosen by the tenants in Fitton Hill, Oldham to take over the estate from Oldham Council. The transfer involved 1220 properties including general family housing, flats and sheltered accommodation.

Villages recognises that it is no longer the role of the housing provider to be just a landlord. Policies and strategies must involve the whole community. Addressing wider issues, such as employment, education, the environment and crime, in partnership with tenants, residents and a variety of agencies, is essential.

Villages Community Housing
Villages Community Housing Association is the charitable subsidiary of Villages Housing Association and has its own independent Board. It is focused on providing quality accommodation and services to its tenants. Some of the association's stock is specialist accommodation for people who require additional support, such as our award winning scheme for people with dementia in St. Helens.
